Parts Technician (Redcliff)

The role

Order Processing – 50% of your time is spent here

· Fulfilling orders with on hand parts, processing orders from our PDC’s, other dealers or suppliers and notifying technicians of any ETA updates or notifying them when parts arrive.

· Has a willingness to learn and effectively use the company business system (Procede) and all other online programs (CAT, Cummins, Paragon, etc.) required to fulfill the duties of a parts person and serve our customer.

Customer Service and Support – 40% of your time is spent here

· Acknowledge all customers as they arrive in the facility and serve them in a timely and efficient manner.

· Provides a high level of service to all of our customers, internal or external. Communicates well with and supports other dealership personnel and departments.

Ad hoc duties – 10% and its important!

· Replenishes assigned display areas, ensures pricing is accurate and keeping the area clean and organized for customers.

· Participates in all training programs that are made available and attend all department meetings.

· Process credit card and debit transactions as well as performing product return inspections and completing refunds and core credits.

Education/Certification

· Minimum high school diploma required

Experience

  • Parts experience in the heavy equipment or commercial vehicle industry is considered an asset
  • Must be professional and organized and able to work in a high pressure environment safely

Supervise and Mentor– 50% of your time is spent here

  • Provide support and facilitate discussion to help the team solve problems
  • Get a clear understanding of the problem from the detailed notes provided by Service Advisors and dispatch mechanics to complete the jobs based on their level of experience
  • Coach and encourage them in solving those problems rather than bringing them to you to solve
  • Delegate workflow to technicians based on changing customer demands and priorities.
  • Supervise repair shop to ensure technicians are productive and efficient while performing quality repairs
  • Perform Quality Control on large repairs leaving the shop for accuracy of repair

Repair – 30%

  • Hands on work, get in there and fix it

  • Diagnose electronic, electrical, chassis and power train complaints

  • Attend virtual and in person, instructor led training to maintain certifications in CAT, Cummins, Detroit, Freightliner, Allison and other industry relevant product lines.

Education/Certification

  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Class 1 or class 3 license considered an asset

Experience

  • Preference will be given to those with Engine certifications including CAT, Cummins & Detroit Diesel
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, managers, customers and the general public

Our total compensation package offers job security, health, dental, EFAP, vision and life insurance. Parts Technician salary ranges from $75,000 – $100,000 per year. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.

The role

Managing, Planning and Mentoring – 60% of your time is spent here

  • Manage and mentor a small team of parts professionals, fostering a cohesive working environment providing regular feedback and training opportunities to employees.
  • Prepare and maintain parts demand planning including analysis, evaluation, recommendation, maintenance, and improvements to parts inventory levels through various distribution channels.
  • Define processes and positions within the team, in line with the wider corporate approach – be a champion of the NWTC approach and instill this within the team.
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining and efficiency improvements within the department
  • Provide explanations, results, and accountability for your Branch to the wider corporate group.
  • Lead improvement projects, and safety initiatives to continuously improve the department.
  • Recruit and hire new team members for your department

Business Development – 20% of your time is spent here

  • Work with current customers in market area to help streamline business and reduce bottlenecks in service.
  • Perform regular customer visits to hear feedback and look for opportunities for improvement.
  • Set Development plans for business and revenue growth
  • Forecast business trends in geographical area and forecast future sales
  • Develop proposals for prospect accounts and grow customer base in geographical area

Customer Service and Support – 20% of your time is spent here

  • Provide a high level of service to all of our customers, internal or external. Communicate well with and support other dealership personnel and departments.
  • Pitch in where required to provide hands on parts advice and support to customers

Education/Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma required

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Parts Manager in the heavy equipment or commercial vehicle industry
  • Must be professional and organized and able to work in a high pressure environment safely
