The role

Problem Solving – 20% of your time is spent here

  • Get a clear understanding of the problem from the detailed notes provided by Service Advisors
  • Using our state of the art tools, diagnose complex engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical and electronic systems
  • Interpret the diagnostics, document your findings, establish timelines for repair

Repair – 70% of your time is spent here

  • Hands on work, get in there and fix it
  • Test vehicles to ensure they meet safety standards and are running properly
  • Coordinate with the back counter parts technicians to ensure parts for the repair are in stock or ordered to perform repairs and maintenance

Reports and training – 10% and its important!

The role

Body Repair – 80% of your time is spent here

  • Hands on work, get in there and fix it
  • Restore the structural integrity of the damaged unit
  • Complete frame structural repair, body sheet metal, plastic, fiberglass component replacement and alignments

Reports and training – 10% and its important!

  • Keep close track of your time and document everything done to repair the unit
  • Continuous upskilling and development through in-house training programs to advance employees in the latest technology in trucking as well as their career at New West

Other duties – 10% of your time is spent here

  • Get a clear understanding of the problem from the detailed notes provided by Service Advisors
  • Inspect vehicles for dimensional accuracy and test drive them to ensure proper alignment and handling
  • Read estimates and follow repair procedure

Education/Certification

  • Journeyman Body Technician Certificate, is an asset
  • Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license, is an asset

Experience

  • 1+ years working as a Body Shop Technician or Auto-Body Technician

The Role:

As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the satisfaction and quality of repairs in a busy and fast paced heavy duty truck body shop.

Estimating – 100% of your time is spent here

  • Review damage reports, repair orders and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed.
  • Create repair estimates for potential clients according to NWTC policies and insurance companies best practices/guidelines
  • Greet customers and explain the repair process and timeline of their repairs.
  • Follow-up with customers to determine satisfaction levels.
  • Present prepared estimates to customers
  • Ensure estimate follow-up to maximize closing ratio.
  • Collaborate with client experience personnel to ensure exceptional follow-up and service.
  • Monitor vehicle production in collaboration with service and parts efficiency managers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Work closely with multiple insurance and independent appraisers.

Education/Certification

  • Post secondary Education in Autobody repairs.
  • Red Seal Auto Body Technician, is preferred.

Experience

  • Proven collision repair experience in estimating and sales
  • Some knowledge of estimating systems
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and safety standards.

  • Keep work area organized and clean

The Role:

Body Prepping – 90% of your time is spent here

  • Obtain repair orders from the Body Shop Manager and take to stall area.
  • Inspect of projects prior to refinishing to ensure all prep and repair work is complete.
  • Apply masking to the bumpers, windows, and trim for primer preparation.
  • Prepare the vehicle for paint sanding, taping, and applying primer
  • Clean and smooth surfaces before the application of primer and paint
  • Detailing of paint work such as unmasking, inspection, touch ups, buffing and minor reassembly.
  • Execute minor body work and priming.
  • Notify Body Shop Manager immediately if further work is necessary, if work outlined is not needed, or repairs cannot be completed within the allotted timeframe.
  • Document work performed.
  • Responsible for practical instructions and support for any assigned Apprentice Technicians.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly shop area.
  • Account for any dealership-owned tools.
  • Follow all company and manufacturer policies, directives, and procedures.
  • Comply with required health & safety regulations.
  • Work in a safe manner, be safety conscious on the job and co-operate with the employer in the health and safety measures set by the employer.

The Role:

Problem Solving/ Repair / Reports and Training

  • Obtain repair orders from the Service Advisor/Service Manager and take to stall area.
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs, as indicated on work order, with accuracy and efficiency in accordance with dealership and manufacturing standards.
  • Inspect and diagnose the source of any malfunction and perform repair.
  • Communicate with the Parts Department to obtain needed parts.
  • Save and tag parts requested by customer or under warranty.
  • Examine the vehicle to determine the need or additional safety or service work.
  • Notify Service Advisor immediately if further work is necessary, if work outlined is not needed, or repairs cannot be completed within the allotted timeframe.
  • Document work performed.
  • Road-test vehicles to quality check work performed or refer to Shop Foreman.
  • Responsible for practical instructions and support for any assigned Apprentice Mechanics / Technicians.
  • Attend factory-sponsored training sessions.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly shop area.
  • Account for any dealership-owned tools.
  • Follow all company and manufacturer policies, directives, and procedures.
  • Comply with required health & safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Work in a safe manner, be safety conscious on the job and co-operate with the employer in the health and safety measures set by the employer.
  • Continually be an ambassador for New West Truck Centres/ Dunlop Truck Centres.
  • Continuous upskilling and development through in-house training programs to advance employees in the latest technology in trucking.

Education/Certification

  • Journeyman Red Seal Heavy Equipment Certificate
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license, no restrictions
  • Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license, is preferred

Experience

  • 3-5+ years experience in heavy duty and diagnostic vehicle repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic codes
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to lift moderate weight with assistance.
  • Good visual acuity to assess work performance.
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude.
  • Effective listening and communication skills.

The Role

This position will be referred to as Service Advisor and will encompass all duties related to Service Administration.

Service Advisor – 100% of your time is spent here

  • Interact with customers, by telephone, email and in person, as required
  • Interpret warranty information and policies for customers
  • Open maintenance orders as required
  • Enter Tasks and SRTs on work orders
  • Courteously handle customer complaints and misunderstandings
  • Stay current on parts and pricing to be able to provide customers with up-to-date product knowledge
  • Communicate with service customers to determine the nature of the mechanical problems
  • Reach agreement with customers before repairs; explain cost estimate and approximate time when work will be completed
  • Assist in cost estimating
  • Communicate the need for additional work when needed; explain the details to the customer, including the additional cost and time, and document properly on work order
  • Follow up progress of each repair order during the day, contact customers by telephone regarding changes in the estimate or time promised
  • Handle telephone inquiries regarding work in process and appointments and return phone messages promptly
  • Follow company safety procedures and help ensure that others follow them as well
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Certification

  • 5 years work experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of the trucking industry and related equipment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

The Role

Body Shop Technician – 100% of your time is spent here

  • Obtain repair orders from the Body Shop Manager and take to the stall area.
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs, as indicated on work order, with accuracy and efficiency in accordance with dealership and manufacturing standards.
  • Sanding and preparing Jobs for Paint
  • Disassembling and Reassembling of Vehicles for Repairs or Paint
  • Performing Body Repairs equivalent to Industry Standards
  • Refinishing Vehicles up to OEM Specification
  • Repairing and or Painting, Metal, Aluminum, Fiberglass, SMC, Plastics, Etc.
  • Notify Body Shop Manager immediately if further work is necessary, if work outlined is not needed, or repairs cannot be completed within the allotted timeframe.
  • Document work performed.
  • Responsible for practical instructions and support for any assigned Apprentice Technicians.
