Under the supervision of the Service Manager the Journeyman Technician will be required to perform diagnoses and repairs in all areas of on-highway vehicles (including both towed in and self-propelled). This role will require an eager, high energy, positive person with a “get it done” attitude. This position calls for someone who is very team-spirit minded and willing to pitch in to make a difference.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Journeyman Technician performs some or all of the following duties:

  • Inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul and repair of various components of a variety of heavy duty trucks equipped with diesel engines and automatic or manual transmissions
  • Assist Shop Supervisor in checking and diagnosing mechanical faults of incoming trucks
  • Comply with Company Health & Safety Program, Occupational Health & Safety Legislation and any other municipal, provincial or federal legislation as it applies to this dealership
  • Communicates with parts department efficiently to obtain needed parts
  • Road test vehicles when required

QUALIFICATIONS
· Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate

· Must have own tools

· Daimler (Freightliner and Detroit) experience an asset

· Ability to understand and effectively use computer equipment including computers for diagnostics

· Must be able to work in a high pressure environment safely

· Must be able to present yourself in a positive, professional manner to colleagues and customers

SERVICE ADVISOR NEW WEST TRUCK CENTRES (FREIGHTLINER)

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Parts & Service Manager, the Service Advisor will welcome customers and gather information required to identify their vehicle repair and maintenance work they require. The Service Advisor sells maintenance services and organizes the work schedule, while maintaining exceptional customer service and rapport. They are the first point of contact for the majority of our customers and visitors. You will be required to act as a liaison between the customer, Parts and Service Departments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Service Advisor will perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Open repair orders for new customers coming in to drop off their trucks for service.
  • Obtain as much information about the customer and vehicle data upon their arrival.
  • Inform the customer of all promotions and services provided by the dealership.
  • Verify the customer’s method of payment before the required repairs begin.
  • Ensure accuracy of customer data in our computer system.
  • Obtain, verify and double check that you have the correct truck/vehicle serial/VIN number, mileage, company, contact names and phone numbers on all required documents.
  • Inspect all vehicles when obtaining VIN; inform customer if work is needed (lights, blades, etc), and provide an estimate for additional repairs.
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Experience in the industry is not necessary, however preference will be given to those with experience in heavy duty trucks or automotive, especially with commercial vehicle experience.
  • Multilingual applicants will be given preference, especially those able to communicate in Hindi and Punjabi
  • Basic understanding and ability to operate a computer including.
  • Microsoft Office programs and internal programs.
  • Must be able to work in a high pressure environment safely Must be able to present yourself in a positive, professional manner to colleagues and customers
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, managers, customers and the general public

  • Inform the customer of all promotions and services provided by the dealership, including Parts and New Truck Sales
  • Verify the customer’s method of payment before the required repairs begin
  • Ensure accuracy of customer data in our computer system
  • Obtain, verify and double check that you have the correct truck/vehicle serial/VIN number, mileage, company, contact names and phone numbers on all required documents.
  • Inspect all vehicles when obtaining VIN; inform customer if work is needed (lights, blades, etc), and provide an estimate for additional repairs.
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-4 years’ administrative experience is considered an asset
  • Dealership experience preferred
  • Excede experience is preferred
  • Service advisor experience is an asset
  • Ability to effectively use computers and software including Microsoft Office Suite with focus on Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment safely
  • Multitasking
